The proof sheet is the first step, not the last ¶
Within four hours of the shoot ending, a low-resolution proof sheet goes to the client. This is not a courtesy. It is the mechanism that makes 72-hour delivery possible. The client reviews the sheet, flags selects, and marks any retouching priorities before the full edit begins. Editing hours are not spent on images the client will not use. The proof sheet typically takes the client 15 to 20 minutes to review and returns a clear brief for the editing stage.
Capture One and colour calibration ¶
All editing runs in Capture One on a colour-calibrated monitor. For commercial clients, a colour profile is built after the first session and applied to every subsequent shoot. This removes the re-briefing step that typically adds a revision round to every new batch. For portrait sessions, Kenji edits personally. For large commercial batches, a dedicated retoucher handles the volume work while Kenji reviews the final pass.
Why the four-client-per-week cap matters ¶
The studio takes on a maximum of four active clients per week. This is the structural reason the 72-hour promise holds. On a week when three clients all need their galleries simultaneously, the cap means there is editing capacity for all three without one job delaying another. It is a constraint that looks like a limitation but functions as a quality guarantee.
Rush commissions and the 24-hour track ¶
For urgent jobs, two slots per week are held for same-day or next-day bookings. Rush commissions carry a surcharge starting at ¥10,000 and come with a guaranteed 24-hour delivery from shoot completion. Availability is confirmed within two hours of enquiry. The fastest completed job to date was 84 product images, fully retouched, delivered in 58 hours.
